Naval Group delivered HS Nearchos, the Hellenic Navy’s second FDI frigate, in Lorient on October 30, according to Defence Industry Europe’s report. Naval Group separately confirmed the handover in a same-day company statement, which said the delivery took place in the presence of Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias and French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin.

The delivery advances Greece’s FDI program beyond its first ship, HS Kimon, delivered in December 2025. Naval Group is scheduled to deliver a third frigate, HS Formion, by the end of 2026, which would bring three FDI deliveries within about a year, Defence Industry Europe reports.

The Hellenic Navy has also awarded Naval Group an initial in-service support contract for its FDI frigates. The reported scope includes maintenance and upgrades involving Naval Group Hellas and Greek industrial partners, with the stated aim of maintaining ship availability. More than 75 Greek companies are involved in Naval Group’s FDI frigate and submarine programs, according to the report.

The fetched documents establish a delivered second ship and a planned third delivery, rather than three ships already in service. They do not disclose the acquisition price, the value of the support contract or a date for HS Nearchos to enter operational service. The delivery therefore confirms a program milestone, while the schedule and cost picture remains only partly documented.
